We spent a few days in Penang just two weeks ago. There was one artisan in particular we wanted to visit. We met the artisan, interviewed him, and took some pictures. Can’t wait to share everything with you in a separate blog post soon!
Penang holds a special place in my heart. I spent the best five or six years of my twenties at USM. So, naturally, revisiting brought back fond memories. Our stay in Penang lasted for four days. From December 27 to 30, 2023.
We went to the USM School of the Arts the moment we arrived from Kuala Lumpur in the morning. We took some pictures here and there. I ran into a former senior who is now an executive there, and together we enjoyed a delicious lunch of Nasi Kandar at Subaidah.
Later in the evening, we attended a rehearsal of the USM Jazz Band. We wanted Ashraf to experience firsthand how music students play and practice. Ashraf thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
Special thanks to Azreen, the current leader of the USM Jazz Band, for graciously allowing us to be part of the rehearsal and permitting us to take some photos while we were there.
As you can see, the students were preparing for upcoming mini-shows leading up to the yearly Jazz Band Concert.
The next day, we visited the cafe on the campus where these students were performing. They were impressive, and we can’t wait to see them again in June for the concert. More pictures on Instagram and stay tuned for more details!
