Zoo Melaka & Dinosaur Encounter

Here are some pictures I took during our several visits to Zoo Melaka in 2021 and 2022. I published some of them on our other Instagram account, CoffeeloversMY.

I thought it would be nice to document them and compile some of the pictures here on tangankraf. Previously, they were only on Instagram. A blog with a dedicated URL is definitely better than all social media combined.

Here goes. Like many kids out there, our son, Ashraf was no exception. There was a period when he was into all things dinosaurs. As you can see in those pictures.

If my memory serves me correctly, he went from sea animal toys, to toy cars, dinosaurs and now, Minecraft. And these obsessions were all inspired by movies he had watched. Sea animal toys, from Finding Nemo. Cars, from Disney’s Cars. And dinosaurs from some clips of Jurassic Park he saw on YouTube.

So we bought him these toys so that he could reenact some of the scenes he remembered from those movies and clips. It has been fun and rewarding to see him grow and watch him play with these toys. Real physical toys involving messy play, hands-on and pretend play. These activities are great for kids.

This was also a period when we could still control his screen time. And then there was Minecraft. That was another story. We’re still figuring out how to deal with that.

Back to Zoo Melaka. The reason we visited this place multiple times was mainly because of its Dinosaur Encounter and Bird Show. Ashraf loved them. Not forgetting, rabbit feeding at Petting Zone.

Typically when we visited Zoo Melaka, we would hire a private guide with a buggy car. This buggy car was big enough to carry three of us. The buggy car would drive around slowly to each stop in the zoo and the guide would explain what animal was what and what it eats and so on.

You could tell the guide to stop if you wanted to so that you could get out and come closer to the animals. It was a nice experience and the price was about RM50 if I’m not mistaken.

Alternatively, you could walk. If you have a small child and you decide to walk, please bring a stroller. The zoo is big. All in all, we love coming to Zoo Melaka. We can’t wait to visit again now that we have a newborn Ezra with us.
