We ended our recent short holiday in Muar with a visit to Art Space. It wasn’t very recent per se; it was weeks ago now at the time of writing. Now that we’re talking about it, we can’t wait to be back.
I forgot who recommended Art Space to us or how I got to know about it in the first place. But I do remember why my wife and I decided to go to Art Space—it was because of those hands-on woodwork activities they have there.
These activities are family-friendly and suitable for kids. We wanted Ashraf to try them, to be there with him and do the activity together. We kind of had enough of him playing Minecraft and Roblox. We were glad we went to Art Space and it definitely helped us reduce his screen time.
This woodwork class was just like playing LEGO but more satisfying. You’ll get to assemble, combine, pile up, stick, and paint the wood in various lengths and sizes, arguably from A to Z. It’s wonderful that this class teaches kids what it takes to build something tangible using their own hands. Additionally, they offer a variety of board games for those interested.
Art Space is located at 66-4, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jln Junid, Taman Khalidi Bharu, in the same row of shops where Muar Art Gallery & Café and Natural Signature are located. They are somewhat interconnected. We entered Art Space through Natural Signature, and you can somewhat enter Muar Art Gallery through Natural Signature as well if I’m not mistaken.
Getting to Art Space from where we were in Parit Besar was a breeze. It felt near, and the traffic was okay. We went during the weekday, so not so many cars. If you’re in Muar, this place is a must-visit. Oh, I forgot to mention that their shop is so cozy and beautiful. On the walls, you can read a little bit of history about Muar’s furniture industry.
We purchased one of their tote bags before leaving and have been wearing it ever since. They also sell other wood-based products, both online and offline, ranging from a collection of wall art plaques to personalised bamboo ballpoint pens. They are all beautiful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Art Space. My wife and I were delighted to see Ashraf having such a good time, and he told us he wanted to come again. I think our next stop will be Muar Art Gallery. Stay tuned! Here’s the Google Maps link to Art Space.
